It’s hunting season y’all, and in the south that means we are usually up a tree somewhere for Deer and Bear! So, that also means, Wear Your Safety Harness! I know all you tough guys and girls think you won’t need it in a ladder stand. I mean you’re only 15-18’ off the ground in a ladder stand. It’s not like you’re in a lock-on or a climber, where you’d hook to a lifeline before you climb and definitely wear your harness. Why wear a harness in a ladder stand? Why?
Because it only takes a split second for you to fall…to your death, or even worse, paralyzed! Either of these mean your quality of life of sprinting up a ladder stand, hunting or running when you want, has been significantly reduced! All because you thought it was cool, or you were in too big of a hurry to wear your Safety Harness.
According to a 2022 article in Outdoor Life by Katie Hill & Alex Robinson, “...The International Hunters Education Association estimates that 300 to 500 hunters die each year from tree stand falls, according to a story last year by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The association also estimates that another 6,000 hunters sustain injuries from falls out of elevated stands…”
We’ve all become victims to forgetting things, but as important as your life is to not only you, but your family, friends, animals, and your dog, you need to wear your Safety Harness! Bass Pro & Cabela’s carry one of my favorites. This Hunter Safety Systems Shadow Safety Harness is lightweight and goes with any camo pattern, like Kryptek! I’ve been wearing Kryptek camo exclusively for over six years without having to replace a single piece from wear. It’s not only amazingly warm, cool, and durable, but it’s fit for function!
So, y’all be safe out there, and let’s get strappy in our stands! Happy Hunting Y’all!
